It’s been quite a while since my last post and I have so many reasons why I haven’t had the time.
- I was blessed with my third pregnancy, eventually giving birth to a wonderful little boy (H). Now I’m spending all my free time snuggling him…
- In addition to Baby H, I have two little ladies –L (4) and N (2)—to raise and chase around each day.
- I work fulltime.
- My health is important and working out has become increasingly necessary to keeping my sanity.
- After a long day, I like to spend one-on-one time with my husband after the kids go to bed.
- My house doesn’t clean itself.
- Have you checked out Netflix lately? There are so many new shows to watch…
The list goes on infinitely to take up every minute of my life.
Then, last week, two very important people in my life made me stop and think.
First, my sister reminded me that we make time for things that are important to us. Of course I need to prioritize my family, but the Netflix excuse has increased exponentially, especially during the social distancing that’s been happening.
Second, my father-in-law said, “Everything is about food with you, isn’t it?” And you know what? He’s 100% right. If I’m not eating (or thinking about eating), I’m cooking, talking about my latest concoction, watching cooking shows, going to the grocery store (a favorite past time, honestly), researching new ingredients that I haven’t yet tried—and I love it all! My happy place always involves food.
As I reflected on these two small comments, I started to feel quite guilty. If food is my passion and this blog is important to me, why haven’t I posted in nearly a year? Unfortunately, I don’t have a good answer except life got in the way, along with a bunch of irrelevant excuses.
So, starting now, there will be no more excuses. You all will start hearing from me a lot more often as I document my love of food and share my favorite good-for-you recipes. While they don’t know it, my sister and father-in-law relit my blogging spark and I can’t wait to see that flame grow.
